Cuttle Browser

Last updated: 22 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It applies to the cuttlebrowser.com website, the Cuttle Browser desktop software, and our cloud services (together, the "Service"), operated by an individual provider ("Operator", "we", "us").

Cuttle Browser is built around a local-first principle. Your browser profiles — including cookies, fingerprint configurations, browsing history, and saved sessions — are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to or stored by us. The cloud is used only for account management, licensing, payment, and software delivery.

1. Data We Collect

Account data. When you register, we collect your email address, a hashed password, and (if you enable it) two-factor authentication settings. We assign you an account identifier and a license number.

License and device data. To enforce subscription limits, we collect a hardware-derived device identifier ("HWID"), the machines associated with your account, your subscription tier and status, and activation/refresh timestamps. We do not collect the contents of your browser profiles.

Payment data. Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We receive only the information needed to confirm a payment and activate your subscription (for example, a transaction or invoice identifier and payment status). We do not receive or store your full card number or crypto wallet credentials.

Communications. If you email us at support@cuttlebrowser.com, we receive the contents of your message and your email address.

Website data. When you visit the website, our hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and request logs for security and operational purposes.

Cookies and tracking on this website. We do not use analytics, advertising, profiling or third-party tracking cookies on this website, and we do not embed third-party trackers or advertising pixels. Any cookies that are set are strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, remembering your language choice). Because we set no non-essential cookies, no cookie consent banner is required. If this ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this Policy.

What we do NOT collect. We do not collect your browsing activity inside Cuttle Browser, the websites you visit, your proxy credentials, your saved cookies, or your fingerprint profiles. These never leave your device through our Service.

2. How We Use Data

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • issue and validate licenses and enforce machine limits;
  • process payments and manage subscriptions;
  • deliver software, updates, and the browser engine;
  • provide support and respond to your requests;
  • protect the Service against fraud, abuse, and security threats; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal Bases (where applicable, e.g. GDPR)

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (account, licensing, payments); our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service improvement); your consent (where requested); and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Service Providers (Sub-processors)

We share the minimum necessary data with trusted providers that operate parts of the Service on our behalf:

NowPaymentsCryptocurrency payment processing
Cloudflare R2Delivery of software binaries and the browser engine
VercelWebsite hosting and DNS
ResendTransactional email (e.g. confirmation and security emails)

These providers process data under their own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal data.

5. International Transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

6. Data Retention

We retain account, license, and payment records for as long as your account is active and as required to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data that we are not required to retain. Data stored locally on your device is under your control and is removed when you delete it from your device.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@cuttlebrowser.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, optional two-factor authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you.

11. Contact
